What does care with a Tulsa Midwife look like?
First, you should call each midwife and set up a consultation so you can choose which one you want to be YOUR midwife.
It's really important to us that you have the midwife that you feel most comfortable with!
Once you choose YOUR midwife, she will meet with you for an initial visit where she will take your personal and medical history, talk to you about what kind of birth you want, and get your chart started in our electronic health records system - which allows us to quickly access your chart no matter where we are, and also allows you to access and print your own chart from any computer with internet access.
Each midwife practices in her own, unique way, but you can expect your care to include the following:
Each midwife will provide you with a complete packet of information regarding her services and fees.

Each midwife practices in her own, unique way, but you can expect your care to include the following:
- Initial prenatal visit, as described above
- Nutritional counseling
- Continuing prenatal checkups, on a standard OB schedule (the same schedule as you would find at a doctor's office) including listening to baby's heartbeat, checking your baby's growth and your vitals, screening for potential problems, and monitoring your overall wellness.
- Natural treatment suggestions for common discomforts and developing issues
- Referral or concurrent care with appropriate health care providers, in case of complications
- Ultrasound examinations, as desired
- Laboratory testing, as desired, on a standard OB schedule
- Labor and delivery care
- Legal paperwork - birth certification, SSN application, state mandated newborn screening
- Postpartum care to six weeks postpartum
- Well baby care, to six weeks postpartum
- Breastfeeding assistance
- Well-woman care, and additional testing as needed.
Each midwife will provide you with a complete packet of information regarding her services and fees.
